Windfarm Visibility

Most local concern about the windfarm relates to visibility. However, the turbines will not be fully visible from anywhere except at the windfarm site itself, and from higher elevations - the nearest being Monkey Rock, 3.5 kms away.

The turbines will not be seen at all from the Ocean Beach swimming area.

Visibility from various other popular vantage points in the landscape is shown in the photomontages below.

Photomontages are photgraphs with the proposed project superimposed by using a recognised industry-standard computer program. The images are indicative only.

Please Note:

  • The turbines have been intentionally enhanced, to stand out in the photos
  • To keep the images conservative a larger turbine is shown than the chosen machine, and all turbines face the viewer
  • Turbine visibility changes with the weather: during fog, low cloud or in sea mist, they may be completely invisible; whereas bright sunlight on the peninsula and dark clouds to the south will highlight them Most of the time the view will be between these two extremes.
